The steering angle limiter suitable for the BMW E36 was specifically developed to reduce and control the maximum steering angle – especially with larger rims, wider tires, or a lowered suspension. It is mounted directly on the steering gear and limits the steering angle precisely and stably.

A steering angle limiter reduces the maximum steering angle of the front wheels. This prevents the tires from rubbing against the body, suspension, or lines when the steering is turned sharply. It provides increased safety and component protection, especially with wide tires, significant camber, or motorsport setups.

Steering angle limiters are particularly useful for vehicles with wide tires, modified wheel offset, wheel spacers, or a large steering angle (e.g., track cars or drift vehicles). They also help prevent contact between the tires and vehicle components when the vehicle is lowered or the suspension geometry is modified. For many setups, steering angle limiters are mandatory for TÜV approval to ensure clearance.

In normal driving conditions, the effect is negligible. The maximum steering angle is only slightly reduced, which is usually unnoticeable in everyday use. In motorsport applications or very tight maneuvers (e.g., parking), the turning circle may increase minimally – but this significantly improves operational safety.
