The original 4-speed mounting points are reused, so no extensive bodywork is needed. The 6 mm plate provides a precise, solid mount for the 5-speed transmission.

5-speed conversion for the BMW 02 Series

Swapping from 4 to 5 gears is one of the most popular upgrades for the 02 Series. Depending on the transmission, the extra gear gives you lower rpm at higher speeds or closer gear ratios for spirited driving. For the 5-speed to sit securely in the car, the transmission mount has to be adapted, and that is exactly what this adapter plate is designed for.

Reuse the original 4-speed mounting points

The adapter plate bolts to the original 4-speed mounting points and carries the 5-speed transmission. You don’t need to weld new brackets into the transmission tunnel or relocate the existing mounts.

Conversion without bodywork

Because the original mounting points are retained, no extensive bodywork on the transmission tunnel is required. That saves time and preserves the original structure of your car, which is a real advantage on classic 02 Series cars.

Durable and corrosion-resistant

The adapter plate is 6 mm thick, high-strength and corrosion-resistant. It reliably handles the loads from the transmission long-term, both in everyday driving and when you push hard.

What’s included

1× transmission adapter plate for 4- to 5-speed conversion (6 mm)

The product offered is not an original part of BMW AG.
